About Us

UC San Diego has always been interested in creating a stronger connection with HBCU Institutions.  The call for the HBCU-Initiative proposals granted us the opportunity to build a successful and sustainable pathway to UC San Diego.  After careful consideration, Howard University was approached to be a partner in the proposal due to existing relationships between our institutions, particularly the Edward A. Bouchet Graduate Honor Society.  UC San Diego is one of only two West Coast institutions in the Society.

UC San Diego Howard Partnership for Graduate Success will represent the best that UC San Diego has to offer.  With a diverse and committed set of faculty mentors, an 8-week summer research experience, and continued interaction with Bouchet Graduate Fellows throughout the year, we are confident that participants will have a quality experience that will lead to a successful application to graduate school.  It is our hope that UC San Diego remains a top choice for these students as they consider their options for graduate school.
